CIRCULATION POLICIES

LIBRARY CARDS

Library cards are free of charge to people who live, work, attend school or own property in Uvalde County. A valid and current Uvalde County Library card must be presented in order to check out materials. Library cards are valid at Sabinal Public Library, El Progresso Memorial Library and Utopia Memorial Library.

PROOF OF ADDRESS - To obtain a library card, proof of address is required, and you must apply in person. Acceptable ID includes the following:

RESIDENTS - Driver's license, MVC change-of-address letter, automobile registration, rent receipt or recent utilities bill.

YOUNG ADULTS GRADE 8 AND UP - School ID or report card

CHILDREN THROUGH GRADE 7 - ID is not required

Cards may be renewed when they expire subject to the proper identification. All fines and lost books must be paid for before a new card is issued. Please let us know if you change your name, address or telephone number. Lost or stolen cards should be reported to us immediately.

BORROWING PERIOD

Books circulate for 21 days.

DVDs circulate for 3 days

HOLDS

If the book you want is out, you can place a hold (also called reserve) on it.  Holds can also be placed by calling the Library or from any computer with the Library Catalog.  Always have your library card number handy when placing a hold.

FINES AND FEES

Please return your borrowed materials on time.   Library users are responsible for the replacement cost of lost or damaged materials. Parents or guardians are responsible for materials borrowed with a Juvenile card.

OVER DUE FINES:

Fines for DVD’s are $1.00 per day

All other material is .20 per day

Borrowing Privileges will be denied if the patron has fines of $3.00 or more. This includes computer usage.

Overdue notices are sent when an item is one week overdue.

RETURNS

An item borrowed at one branch may NOT be returned to another branch.

RENEWALS

Books may be renewed if there are no holds (reserves) present.  An item can be renewed by bringing it to the Library.

COPIES AND FAXES

The copy/fax machine is available to any member of the community, for the first 10 pages the library requests a donation, $0.10 per page after the first 10 pages.

BOOK DROP

Book drop is open 24/7 and is located in front of Sabinal Public Library.
